How your donation helps – Innovative therapies and life-changing research
We are researching together for the future – for a world with less suffering caused by neurological diseases. With your support, we can steer our research in new directions, support ambitious projects and hire talented scientists. People with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, meningitis, vertigo, headache and numerous other neurological diseases are relying on us. With your help, we can give them hope and shape the future.
We are aiming for a paradigm shift: identifying and treating neurological disorders at an early stage before symptoms occur. We are focusing on strengthening the brain’s resilience, so that we are not running to keep up with illnesses but preempting them. Actively promoting brain health is our aim.
The Nerven bewahren foundation supports outstanding projects at the renowned Department of Neurology of LMU Munich and collaborates with national and international partners. Your donation will facilitate new knowledge and therapies that could change the lives of many people.
“Your donation is a valuable contribution to the advancement of the diagnostics and treatment of neurological diseases – for dedicated research to benefit our patients.”
Prof. Dr. med. Günter Höglinger

Our mission: Rethinking research
Around 3.4 billion people worldwide are affected by neurological disorders – that’s 43% of the global population1. In Germany alone, there are 1.8 million people living with dementia2 and the numbers are increasing every year.
Neurological diseases affect the brain, spinal cord and the peripheral and autonomic nervous system. They have a considerable impact on the patients’ lives and include illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, epilepsy or strokes as well as migraine and meningitis. Neurological diseases can occur at any age.
Neurological diseases can affect movement, memory, perception, speech and other basic bodily functions and can alter the personality of those affected by these diseases, with far-reaching consequences for the patients’ families and society.
Neurological research is a success story with impressive breakthroughs and significant improvements for patients. But there’s still a lot to do.

Your donation can make a difference
With your help, we can change patients’ lives and advance medical care and research.
Research is the key to understanding neurological diseases and developing innovative therapies – but it’s expensive and cannot be borne by our healthcare system alone. A state-of-the-art MRI scanner can cost up to 300,000 euro and with 20 euro we can grow important cell cultures to test new agents. No matter how large or small your donation is, it’s a vital contribution to facilitating this progress.
Together we can lay the foundations to give patients’ hope and new perspectives – your donation counts.
